Space Afrika: Ambient Installation

From March 13 to 22, Space Afrika will present an ambient piece at Espacio Sonoro at Casa del Lago UNAM

The untitled piece highlights the English duo’s extensive musical background, subtly blending experimental ambient, dub, and techno, among other contemporary sound trends. The result is a delicate balance of layers and textures that interact organically with the surroundings, integrating with the sounds of birds, animals, and people passing through the venue, thereby expanding the site-specific listening experience.

Space Afrika, the duo of Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang, is considered innovative in electronic music, as they fuse genres such as UK dance, ambient, alternative, trip-hop, and pop, as well as classical, contemporary, and experimental music. As producers, contemporary composers, visual artists, performers, and hosts of NTS Radio, Tarelle and Inyang are recognized for their sound that defies genre categories. The duo has released two critically acclaimed albums: Somewhere Decent to Live (sferic, 2018) and Honest Labour (Dais Records, 2021); the latter topped Resident Advisor’s Album of the Year list and received two nominations in DJ Mag for Best Live Act and Best Album.
